Electronic visas are a modern alternative available to travellers. They are much simpler and quicker to obtain than traditional visas. Kannur joins other airports accepting e-Visas in India
Since 7 June 2022, India has 29 airports that allow entry using e-visa. In fact, following statements by the Indian Home Minister and the Chief Operating Officer of Kannur Airport, the latter is now among the checkpoints for travellers with an e-visa.
Remember that Kannur is located in the south of the country, in Kerala. The other three airports in this beautiful region were already open to digital visa holders. They are Calicut International Airport, Cochin International Airport and Trivandrum International Airport.
Here is the list of other Indian airports offering the same advantage: Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Lucknow, Trichy, Varanasi, Bagdogra, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Mangalore, Mumbai, Nagpur, Port Blair, Pune, Delhi, Gaya, Goa, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata and Visakhapatnam.
You should also know that 5 seaports are currently accessible via this type of visa: Chennai, Cochin, Mangalore, Mormugao and Mumbai.
Who can benefit from an Indian e-Visa?
First of all, you need to know that there are several e-Visas issued by India. Depending on the reason for your trip, you can opt for one of these types: tourism, business, private visit, medical, conference, voluntary work or Yoga.
To benefit from it, you will need to meet certain conditions. These include belonging to one of the countries that have been selected by the Indian government. These include France, the whole of Europe and the United States. Note, moreover, that Nepal and Bhutan are exempt from such a procedure.
You will also need to provide the following documents: ua recent passport photographand the identity page of the passport. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of departure for India.
