Discover India and Sri Lanka on a combined trip

Sri Lanka and India are close, first of all geographically, but also in terms of cultures, heritage and population. Do you want to visit these two countries? Very good idea ! How to organize a combined trip to India and Sri Lanka? What arrangements should you make for a peaceful stay? What are the must-sees in both destinations?

Organize your trip

It is true that if you want to take a combined trip, it requires more organization, already in terms of plane tickets. How do you want to organize yourself? Do you want to stay the same number of days in each country? Where to start? These are all the questions you need to ask yourself! It is necessary to favor early booking to be sure of traveling on the dates you want. This also allows you to benefit, sometimes, from some advantages and attractive prices.

What about the visa?

You need a valid visa to travel to India and Sri Lanka. If you are doing a combined India/Sri Lanka trip and you are a French national, you no longer need to obtain a waiver (as was still the case until recently). If you are travelling from India to Sri Lanka, you can opt for an e-visa or multiple-entry electronic visa (which then allows you to re-enter India even if you have left). Make sure you have a valid passport! If you need help obtaining your visa, or simply if the administrative procedures seem too complicated, use a specialist agency.

Make sure you apply for an e-Visa for each country, so you can enter and leave the country easily. India offers the tourism e-Visa with a validity of 30 days, 1 year or 5 years. As far as Sri Lanka is concerned, you can apply for the 30-day tourist visa.

Authentic India

India is a country that still fascinates tourists. Its heritage and culture are rich and varied and a stay in India is impossible to forget! There are a few must-see attractions that you absolutely must take the time to see if you visit the country.

You absolutely must take a walk along the Ganges, a mythical river if ever there was one and around which Indian life is regulated on a daily basis.

India is also a disturbing country, mixing temples and villages with forests and tropical panoramas. Modernity and tradition combine to make your stay an unforgettable moment!

Head to the Amritsar temple to discover one of the most famous temples in the country! If you love nature, then you can explore the Periyar Nature Reserve in the state of Kerala. Also called Thekkady, this protected space allows you to admire very abundant fauna and flora. This natural park is also a large tiger reserve. Do not miss it !

Sri Lanka, pearl of Asia

Sri Lanka is not left out! It is indeed a magnificent country where the landscapes are breathtaking. Ancient Ceylon has priceless treasures thanks to an invaluable religious and spiritual history! Ancient cities, fine sandy beaches and mountains delight tourists!

Pass through Colombo, the capital with its very tumultuous character, and stroll through the streets full of buildings reminiscent of the city's British past. This promises great walks!

Do not miss : Dambulla and the caves (collected under the name of Golden Temple). There you will discover a rock formation, an emblematic place of Buddhism but also one of the most beautiful sites in Sri Lanka.

You can also go to Polonnaruwa, the former capital of the country whose ruins can be visited. The city is also home to an archaeological museum, one of the richest in the country.
