The validity period of an India e-visa corresponds to the period during which you can use your electronic visa from its date of issue.
The validity period of an India e-visa differs depending on the form in which it is available. You can choose between theTourism e-visa, L'Business e-visa, L'Medical e-visa and thee-visa Conference.
The Tourism e-visa is the most popular India e-visa. It will allow you to make tourist visits to India on the basis of a single entry or several entries, depending on its period of validity. The Tourism e-visa can be valid for 30 days, 1 year or 5 years from the date of issue. If you opt for an India e-visa valid for 1 year or 5 years, you will not be able to stay in India for more than 90 days at a time.
The Business e-visa will allow you to make several business trips to India, for a total duration of 180 days. It is valid for 1 year from the date of issue.
The Medical e-visa allows patients and accompanying persons up to 3 entries into India, for a total stay of up to 60 cumulative days. Its validity period is 4 months from the date of issue.
Finally, the Conference e-visa allows a single entry into India for a stay of up to 30 days. It is also valid for 4 months from the date of issue.
Can the validity period of an e-visa in India be extended?
It is not possible to extend the validity period of an India e-visa on site, regardless of the type of India e-visa you have in your possession. The only way to extend your stay in India is to leave Indian territory and apply for a new India e-visa. It is generally recommended to go to a border country, such as Nepal or Sri Lanka, to apply for a new visa for India. However, you will need to have a visa from one of these countries to access it.
